Since the 70's Hip Hop has been a voice for the impoverished and disenfranchised. Groups like X-Clan, BDP, Poor Righteous Teachers and Public Enemy spoke to the people and put a spotlight on police brutality, ghetto living conditions and black on black violence.
Today, rap music is being used as a vehicle to promote a corporate agenda and to program a generation of followers to neglect the social ills of our community and abandon our culture.
RunTellFacts has teamed up with Professor Griff to discuss several topics bringing forth an understanding of the schemes entertainers are using to control our kids. This lecture looks at the undercover war aimed at our people and culture overall.
How many times have you lent your heart out to affection and had it mishandled or broken? Think of all the times you said you'd never let your guard down again. Like so many, I too shared that experience on a few occasions. I've stood in the face of 'never again' a couple of times only to find myself back where I started. The truth is although many of us just make pour choices for one reason or another. I think those relationships eventually fade away in time once they've run their course. However, when Love calls your name, your heart stands still at 'Attention!' No matter what's going on around you or how you may try to ignore that longing inside- you can't win against it; not that losing is a bad thing. Love called my name when I was 18 and captured my attention. I was lured with it's sweet aroma, delicate trimmings and rough edges. The way Love melted my soul at one glance was like ice in fire. The nerve endings taunted the hair on the back of my neck every time Love smiled in my direction; and when Love spoke, intelligence and masculinity poured out from its mouth like honey. I couldn't help but want a taste. Yet I resisted- Love couldn't have possibly come to my address and with the boldness of a lion. I had already decided to settle for melancholic companionship. I had already experienced too many false flags to try again. But just as sure as rain is wet and wounds take time to heal, Love was there with the first-aid kit nursing me to health. Finally, I gave in and as we stood face to face, I inhaled Love. Love is
now forever a part of me, so to lose Love is to lose life.
When love calls your name take heed, listen and answer. Love is patient, kind and long-suffering but can be lost in ignorance. Love may wait for a while but it may only call your name once.
I was just reflecting on all of the Facebook updates about the Christmas holiday. Many people are giving praise to "God" because their children were so excited about the gifts they'd received; others gluttonously recline on sofa's just inches away from remote controls they admittedly couldn't reach; and then there were the few that truly appreciated the pure sentiments of family intimacy. I drew conflicting conclusions, Christmas is fulfillment in the abundance of gifts and a time for appreciation of family, food, fun and fellowship.
Rarely did those celebrating mention the "origin" of the holiday- the said birth of Jesus Christ. All of the tangible festivities lead me to wonder if Christmas would exist if there weren't any meals or gifts. What does it mean to the homeless, to the lonely orphan or the impoverished parent who couldn't provide food or gifts.
How did something thought to be so pure become so commercial? Ironically Chri$tma$, the economy's holiday seems to perfectly bridge the gap of church and state. The "church" or observing christian body (however devout or not) spends the money to fund the state's operating budget and the cycle continues. Spend and Pay, the American Way- Merry Chri$tma$...
